By default, your D-Link router broadcasts the network name, also known as the SSID. When the SSID is broadcast, devices within range of the wireless network can find and list the network by its network name using site survey tools. You can hide the SSID of your network on a D-Link or any brand of router to enhance security for your network. If your SSID is not broadcast, the network name is hidden to devices within range. In order for a device to connect to your network, the user must know the SSID, the security type and the password for your network. Warnings Writer Bio
