JVC’s digital video camcorders are sensitive and complicated electronic devices. They contain both powerful digital video processing chips and intricate parts that work together to focus and zoom the lens and handle the DV cassette that the camera uses for recording and playback. These cameras contain sensors that can detect issues in their operation. When they detect an issue, they can put the camera into a special “Safeguard Mode” that shuts it down until it can be reset. Updated September 15, 2017 Remove the battery from the camera and unplug the power adapter if it is plugged in if the camera displays “E01,” “E02” or “E06” as the error code. After a few minutes, the safeguard warning will disappear. Plug the battery back in and resume normal operation. Eject the DV tape from the tape bay if the camera displays “E03” or “E04” as the error code. After a few minutes, re-insert the tape to see if it clears the error. Consult your nearest JVC dealer if you have tried the above solutions several times and they have not worked. There may be a more serious internal problem with the camcorder and it will need to be repaired.
