Canon refers to cropping as “trimming" in the Digital Photo Professional editing application. You can trim a section of an image to enlarge or reduce, or you can crop a section of an image to remove the outer edges. For example, if you captured a snapshot in vertical mode, you can trim the black space surrounding the shot to keep only the image using the Trimming Angle tool in the DPP application. Note that you can crop the image in the Trimming Angle Adjustment window and print the trimmed version, but the original image is not actually trimmed until the file is converted and saved.
