You may want to make a copy of personal home movie that you have on DVD disc for friends and family, or for your personal backup. In this case, you must first “rip” the DVD, which means that you copy the disc to your hard drive in the ISO file format. An ISO file is an exact virtual copy of a DVD. You must then burn this image file onto a blank DVD with a ISO burning program. DVD ripping software is not to be utilized for the purpose of copying encrypted, commercial DVD releases, as this is illegal. The method described is only for DVD discs that contain personal home movies. Writer Bio
