Preparing Your Printer
Open the lid on your printer, while it is still plugged in, and pull out any remaining ink cartridges. Printer ink is considered an environmental hazard and should not be thrown into the garbage. Most printers will only allow you to access the ink bay when the printer is still plugged in. Unplug the printer. Remove all detachable cables, such as the printer-to-PC data cable, and set them aside.
Recycling Your Printer
Take your ink cartridges and printer to a local recycling center. The EPA has a list of local recycling and donation centers for any electronic components you want to get rid of. Stores such as Best Buy and Staples have recycling sites set up within the store. Writer Bio
